With this update of the Bere Regis website, I have included many new finds and developments in my study of the history of the village.
In 2006 I published a new book called Bere Regis; Past and Present and during the research for this new book I found a lot more information, and presented it in a time-line fashion so that the book is very easy to use. There is more information on families and buildings which may help those researching their genealogy.
Since the book was published, a lot more information has been found, and some of this will be presented on this website. In particular, a lot of names on various lists have been computerised, so that they can be easily accessed, are now available. Some of these date back to the end of the sixteenth century. .
In addition to written records, several interesting archaeological finds have been found, either in the ground or in some cases have come out of dusty drawers, having been found many years ago. The earliest find of recent times has been that of a Neolithic hand scraper, dating from about 5,500 years ago.
Copies of my father's book of 1978 are still available, called The Book of Bere Regis, and both this and the new book have the same retail price. That is GBP20 each, plus GBP2 postage in the UK. Please ask for a postal quote for other regions of the globe. Click here for Email order form or click here for Mail order form.
NEW!!! Recently added to the book section is my new booklet on Baptisms, Marriages and Burials of Bere Regis (1586 to 1786).
Also in this section I have been able to insert PayPal buttons which when you to single click on them, they will take you to the PayPal website where you can pay online. We are still working towards a shopping basket and hope to have that online soon.
